The association conducts semi-annual conventions, and education programs for members and others, such as architects and owners.
Training programs for roofing contractors on systems installation, safety, business management, etc., are conducted on a regular basis.
Some pre-packaged training materials are available to members on topics including asbestos roofing removal and renovation, commercial and residential roofing systems installation - including built-up roofing, single ply systems, asphalt shingles, and metal roofing.
The association has a licensing program for roofing contractors which is being specified by architects, school boards, etc. The licensing program is essentially a "pre-qualification" program since a participant must provide proof of being a legitimate business, provide proof of insurance and a principle in the company must pass a comprehensive written examination covering all aspects of roofing and general business management, including safety and loss control.
